Ben Kweller

Ben Kweller is an acclaimed Austin-based singer-songwriter known for his indelible melodies and heartfelt storytelling. For two decades, Kweller has been one of the pillars of Underground Indie and Alternative Rock, occasionally letting his Texas roots shine with sprinkles of Americana and Alt-country. Raised outside of Dallas, he first broke out as a teenager with his late-90s Grunge band Radish before moving to NYC and cementing himself as a defining voice of the early 2000s rock scene with his solo debut, Sha Sha. Over the next decade, Kweller built a celebrated catalog which further solidified his reputation as a gifted songwriter with a knack for earnest and passionate hook-driven Alternative Rock songs. In 2023, Kweller suffered the unimaginable when he lost his 16-year old son, Dorian, in a freak car accident. After months of grief and soul-searching, the artist released Cover the Mirrors, his most emotionally raw work to date. The 12-song collection features guest performances by longtime friends and collaborators including Waxahatchee, MJ Lenderman, The Flaming Lips, and Jason Schwartzman’s highly acclaimed mid-aughts musical project Coconut Records. Despite the profound heartache and sadness that have filled the years since Dorian’s passing, Kweller’s open-eyed honesty about grief and loss has been an inspiration to many people around the world.
